When to Retire a Feature Metric
Signs that an adoption KPI has outlived the decision it was meant to support.
Metrics linger after the roadmap move they informed. Stakeholders keep checking a chart that no longer changes anyone’s plan, while newer features go unmeasured.
Retire a metric when the feature is stable, the decision is closed, or the event definition drifted so far that comparisons mislead. Archive the rule; do not leave a zombie KPI on the board.
A short retirement note—why it existed, why it ends—keeps trust higher than silently dropping lines from a report.
